what electric guitar is best for me?
ive been playing a seagull entourage rustic acoustic electric guitar for about a year and i want to get an electric, but i don’t know what to get. i l want be able to play Paramore, OneRepublic, Green Day, Jason Mraz, All-American Rejects, Kings of Leon, Fall Out Boys, etc. I don’t know what guitar to get that would be best for the music i play. can you give me some input to what would be best for me?

Which guitar is best for you? Only you can make that choice. I can tell you which guitar I find most comfortable to play and which I like the tone of best. The next guy can only tell you what he likes. That does not mean either of our choices which may suit our playing styles, will fit your playing style.
Scale length. Try a few guitars to get a feel for the scale length. Gibson/Epiphone uses a 24 3/4 inch scale. Most Fender/Squier, Jackson and Ibanez are 25 1/2 inch. The longer the scale length the farther apart the frets are. Determine which scale you find most comfortable to play.
Bridge. Decide if you want a whammy bar. If you do, you need to look at guitars with a tremolo bridge. like a Strat for instance. It is not practical to retrofit a tremolo bridge to a guitar that did not come with one. If you do not want a whammy bar, get a fixed bridge guitar, like a Les Paul for instance.
Body shape and weight. Play some different shapes and weights to see which feels best to you.
Neck profile and fretboard radius. Now play some guitars to check the profil of the neck (shape of the back side). Some are clunkier or thicker (Gibson). Some are slimmer (Jackson). Lots in the middle. The radius is the side to side curvature of the fretboard. The higher the number the flatter the neck. Shredders generally prefer flatter necks. Chord players generally prefer more sharply curved necks. But not everyone prefers it that way. Check some to see what you like and which feels best for your style of play.
Now you have figured out what style guitar is most comfortable for you, a body shape, scale length and neck. That will narrow your choices down to a few brands or models. Now you test some focusing on the sound. Which set of pickups available on those models (that fit your comfort requirements) have the tone you like best. Presto. You have the guitar that is best for you.
Note. I never really mention brands other than for illustration purpose. There are many great brands. Find the guitar that is comfortable and then the one with pickups you like the sound of and that is the guitar that is best for you. It may be an Epiphone Les Paul, Squier Classic Vibe, Ibanez RG, Jackson Dinky, or what ever. Those are all good guitars and each is someone’s best, and none are everyone’s best.
