What’s the difference between a gibson guitar and epiphone?
I was at guitar center with my fiancee and we were looking for a guitar for her. I pointed to a guitar that i thought was a gibson and she said”Wtf Mike! Can’t you see that was an epiphone?” I asked her what the difference was, and she said that there’s a couple. But it was funny how she said it. XD
While it’s not true of all models, in general, Gibson guitars are manufactured in the US and Epiphones are manufactured off shore. There is a factory in China (Shan Dong) that makes some remarkably well crafted Epiphones with excellent materials. In one of the other answers you received, your Yahoo friend recommends siting down the neck to make sure it’s true. This is always a good idea. Plug it in. Play it. How does it feel? How does it sound? Are there bad spots where the instrument buzzes? Guitar Center’s techs will go over the instrument and make minor adjustments for you. Just ask. If you’re buying an acoustic instrument, make them give you a humidifier to put in the case or the soundhole as an extra measure of care. I believe in supporting US builders (Check out tillguitars.com for example), but there are good and sensitive crafts people all over the world so, I wouldn’t be too concerned where it comes if it sounds good.
