question about jumbo acoustic guitar?
I’m buying a guitar to start playing again but I don’t have much money. I’ve never played a jumbo before, only a dread. i know jumbos sound a bit different, and the body style is different. is the neck wider then a dread, or electric.
In general, body size and neck size are not related. It all depends on the choices made by the individual manufacturer. Also, there are two components to neck size: profile of the neck and width of the neck at the nut. You can have a fat neck with a 1 5/8″ wide fretboard and you can also have a skinny low profile neck with a 1 3/4″ wide fretboard. Just because it’s a jumbo does not have any implications as to neck profile and width. You will have to see for yourself.
