what is a blues box, and can anyone give me an easy blues rhythm?
what is the purpose of the “box” in blues guitar playing? also can any one suggest an easy blues rhythm (maybe something along the lines of chuck berry/ bo diddley, or anything with open strings). i have a little parlor guitar (basically a half size acoustic), not a big electric or a dreadnought.
like the first dude said, a “box” is pretty much the pentatonic scale within 4 frets. if you dont know that scale, look it up on the internet (“blues pentatonic scale”). i would say its the most common scale beginners learn.
a fun and easy blues progression with open chords would be E7 A7 B7.
for E7, make the open E chord, then remove your ring finger. boom E7
for A7, make the open A chord, then remove your ring finger/ make the G string second fret open
for B7, this one is a little tricky but ill try to explain it. index on d1,middle on a2, ring on g2, and pinky on high e2. mute/dont hit the low e string.
as far as showing you a chuck berry song, well he was one of the best blues players ever and i cant even play his stuff yet so start small and go from there. thats what i did/ still doing.
