Should I buy a Jumbo or Acute Auditorium Guitar, in Rosewood or Mahogany?
I am buying a new guitar, and I don’t know much about guitar types. What is the difference between a jumbo and an Auditorium? What is the difference between rosewood and mahogany sides? Basically, I’m a small woman who plays rhythm acoustic to accompany my singing… I don’t pick much, but I do play barre chords. I am going to buy a Babicz guitar, which comes in the two types I have mentioned and a dred, but I don’t like the way the dred looks so it is between the jumbo and auditorium. I am small, so I think the auditorium will be easier to play, but maybe the sound won’t be right for me? I don’t know. Which wood should I pick, too?
Auditorium would probably be a better size for you since jumbo guitars are so big. Most acoustic guitars are dreadnoughts and that would have a fuller, deeper sound than an auditorium.
I would suggest that you play all of them and pick the one that feels & sounds the best for the price. DO NOT buy a guitar through the mail…! Make sure you play the exact guitar that you are going to buy before you pay for it.
